Midweek Small Groups & Pastorates

'Midweek church' and community life happens, during the week, in small groups and pastorates. 

'Small groups' are groups of a few people that meet together for worship, bible study and to hang out socially. Several small groups join together to form a Pastorate, with about thirty members. 

Both provide a place of community and belonging, where you can grow in your faith and develop as a disciple. Some example of the groups we run are below.


Mondays

FOOTPRINTS (Adults with Learning Difficulties) evenings meeting fortnightly at Etlo Church, Cossins Rd, BS6 7LY. There’s no age limit and all are welcome. Contact Kirstie Weaver

NETTIE & DAVE'S GROUP meets on the 3rd Monday of the month at Woodlands. This is a group for people who are 40+ Led by Nettie Matthews & David Mitchell. Contact Nettie Matthews

WOODIES FOOTBALL CLUB Training is on Monday nights and games are mainly on Saturday. First team led by Steve Ballard, 2nd team led by Jon Peach. Contact The Gaffer


Tuesdays

SOURCE is a 20s-30s evening meeting, fortnightly in central Bristol. Led by a team and has 2 home groups meeting every other week. Contact Lorna Stanley

EASTON IN GORDANO meet weekly and are an international mix of English, Malaysian, Mexican and Taiwanese members. We are spread out across Bristol, Pill/Easton-in-Gordano and Portishead, all within about 20 minutes drive of each other. Contact Rob Gentilli 

HENLEAZE PASTORATE meet once a month to eat together and worship and have guys and girls home groups on the other weeks. Term time only. Contact Hazel Askew

Wednesdays

THE ALPHA COURSE runs on Wednesday evenings a few times a year. Alpha is designed for people who are interested in finding out more about the Christian faith. There is a meal, followed by a thought provoking talk, then a chance to ask questions and discuss in a small group context. Visit the Alpha Course page.

BEACONS PASTORATE
meets in the evenings weekly at Woodlands. We work with internationals. Anyone from any country is welcome to join!  

FLYER meets fortnightly in St Werburghs. The group is aimed at people who wish to investigate Jesus and faith, for whom Sunday service attendance or traditional bible studies is not the right fit. Contact Gregg Thompson

MANNA meets in Cotham and is a space where we can journey through the exciting discoveries & also challenging aspects of our faith together – we hope to meet God, learn more about him and know him in our lives. Contact Jesse Mowll

MUSTARD SEED meets weekly on Wednesdays, on Gloucester Rd. Learning to live in and by God's grace. Contact Cornelia Elanjikal

The SOUTH GLOS GROUP is for people committed to Woodlands from Thornbury, Yate and the surrounding villages. We meet on Wednesdays or Thursdays and share Bible studies, prayer and socials. Contact Nigel & Jackie Quarrell


Thursdays

BACKWELL home group meeting weekly on Thursday evenings in group members' homes. Contact Nick Jones

BRANCHES is a pastorate for 20’s and 30’s who meet fortnightly in a café on Cheltenham Road. Branches is led by Mark and Abigail Reid and Grace Kirby. Contact Mark Reid

BRISLINGTON PASTORATE on Thursday evenings meeting fortnightly in South Bristol. A network of small groups wanting to share the hope and love of Jesus with the Brislington community. Contact Tracey Ghali

EAST BRISTOL PASTORATE on Thursday evenings meeting monthly in Fishponds and is made up of three home groups that meet across East Bristol. Contact Ruth & Jason Bullock

PORTISHEAD homegroup meets fortnightly for bible study, looking at the Woodlands sermon discussion notes.  Contact Laura Swanepoel

RATE PASTORATE
for 20s-30s meets fortnightly around the Cotham area (BS6). Contact Clotilde Barberon

RIVER PASTORATE meets evenings fortnightly in North Bristol as. It also has a monthly group for men led by Barry Horner, Andrew Parker and Martin Wicks and a monthly group for women led by Bev Horner, Becky Parker, Helen Wicks and Rachel Painter. Contact Helen Wicks

ROOTS PASTORATE is a young adults pastorate currently meeting fortnightly on Thursdays at a cafe on Cheltenham Road – with a passion to see the good news of Jesus shared with others. It’s led by a team headed up by Steve and April Ballard. Contact Steve & April Ballard

OAK meets 20s-30s is a young adults pastorate meeting fortnightly at Woodlands, with a passion to see the good news of Jesus shared with others. There are also homegroups meeting around that. Contact Caroline Dangerfield

OPEN ACCESS meets weekly 10.30am to 1pm in the crypt. It's a flexible group used by a wide range of people - people who feel on the edge of church; those with mental health issues; people with learning difficulties; people of other nationalities; those who have served time in prison; people breaking free from addictions. Contact Trudie Lane


Fridays

DAYTIME HOMEGROUP meets at Henleaze and Westbury church hall, Eastfield Road weekly on Fridays during term time from 10am-12 noon. It’s a place for women to be real and seek God in a friendly environment. Women from any of the congregations are welcome. Contact Barbara Bulman
 

NURTURE for women on Friday daytimes meeting weekly at Woodlands. We meet on a Friday morning from 9:30am to 11:15am, in the Foyer at Woodlands. A creche is provided. Contact Rebekah Evans

DEVOTION is the youth congregation of Woodlands Church. It meets weekly during term time on Friday evenings at 7.30pm at Woodlands and has small group time on Sundays. The age range is 13-18 years old.Contact Chris Duncan

The Post-16 home group meets fortnightly at ADH in Cotham on a Tuesday evening led by Tina Mitchell. A Post-18 home group is run by Simon Hughes.

 


Other times

WOODIES BIKERS is a motorcycle group set up in June 2009. We encompass all styles of riding, and all sizes of motorbikes. We organise rideouts, socials, camping trips and weeks away. Primarily this is an acitivity-based outreach group, providing a safe place for both Christians and non-Christians to ride together. Contact Chris Gregory for more.
