JOIN A TEAM
One way of getting stuck into the Woodies family is to join a team, serving alongside others is a great opportunity for fellowship.
We’d love you to get involved! It’s always useful to have a large team on Sundays as well as help throughout the week, so our ministries and courses are well supported. Some teams require a certain level of skill or experience, while on others no previous experience is necessary. The schedule for each team is different, find out what’s involved and the time required in helping on our different teams below.

SUNDAY SERVICE TEAMS
Set Up Team
Everyone loves a chair and we have lots to put out each Sunday morning. We need 2-3 people each week to arrive at 8.15am and get those chairs moving ready to welcome the 9.15am service. You get brekkie too!
Welcome Team
We love to welcome people! Every Sunday there are hundreds of people coming through our doors. We want friendly people who can help for 30 minutes before and after services to welcome and steward people.
Refreshments Team
Do you love hospitality? We do! We welcome people to our services with free hot drinks. This team arrives 30 minutes before a service to make tea and coffee and set up the Foyer, ready to be friendly and welcoming as people arrive.
Communion Team
We take communion at our services each fortnight and need team to arrive 30 minutes before the service to prepare the bread and juice and place at stations around the church. A communion team leader will support you and you can serve communion if you would like to.
Newcomers Team
We love to connect with new people at Woodies. If you’re a chatty person who could be available for around 30 minutes before and after services to talk to people and help them find out more about church, join the Newcomers Team.
Production Team
Lights, Camera, Action! We have lots of roles behind the scenes to help make Sunday services happen. This includes sound mixing, camera teams, running our audio visual systems and livestreaming. Most teams arrive one hour before the services to help set up and finish soon after the service ends.
Worship Band
Our Sunday worship teams have a high musical standard and we do an informal audition with any potential new team members. There are also lots of worship contexts away from Sundays too such as small groups and special events. Worship teams arrive two hours before the service to sound check and rehearse the songs.
BUILDING TEAM
Building Maintenance & Gardening
If you have decorating or DIY skills or simply enjoy gardening, we’d love to hear from you. Woodlands is a large building with plenty of things that need doing on a regular basis.
MINISTRY TEAMS
Children’s Team
Children's Church happens on Sunday mornings at the 9.15am and 11am services, with provision for children aged 0-11 years. If you enjoy working with kids in a fun, playful way, then get in touch. We need team to be available 20 minutes before and after the service. (DBS required)
Families Team
If you are excited about the opportunities to serve the young families in our church family as well as the wider community, then we would love to hear from you! It is such a blessing to journey with families during this season. Our popular Tiny Treasures Toddler group on Wednesday mornings serves 20 - 30 families in term time!
Youth Team aka DEVO
At Woodlands, we’re all about creating an expression of church where young people feel inspired and encouraged to grow in faith. If you love Jesus, you’re just what we need. We meet on Sundays, Friday evenings and Tuesday evenings - so there’s a few ways to get involved! It’s never dull on the youth team. (DBS required)
Students Team
We have a large student group that we support in many ways! You could help by mentoring, attending student gatherings on Tuesday evenings, supporting our events, going for coffee, welcoming and simply helping them to integrate into our church family. Volunteering could be at a one-off event or a regular connection into our student activities.
Creatives Team
We love to have input from creative people to help our church family connect with God. This has been done through film and photography, but also through events and creative projects with artists, actors, dancers, writers, etc. We also need graphic designers and those passionate about communications and social media!
SUPPORT TEAMS
Alpha Support Team
We love hosting the Alpha course which runs three times each year on Wednesday nights from 7.30pm - 9.30pm. We need teams to help set up, cook, serve and wash up. You can serve as an individual or as a homegroup, once or a few times per course.
Wholeness Support Teams
Our Wholeness Course runs twice a year and we need people to help us facilitate the course, including those who are interested in providing prayer ministry (see below).
Prayer Ministry Team
For those who enjoy providing prayer support, we offer Foundation Prayer Ministry Training and the opportunity to join a team which offers prayer after services and occasionally helps on things like the Wholeness Course.
