WEDDINGS AT WOODLANDS

Congratulations on your engagement! If you are considering having your wedding at Woodlands, we hope the following information will prove helpful.

Under current legislation, weddings taking place at Woodlands are licensed for people whose main place of worship is at Woodlands Church.

Marriages are by ‘licence’; both parties in the wedding must “give notice” at their local registry office (in Corn Street for Bristol) and pay a fee. Marriage notices are displayed in the registry office (the equivalent of Banns being read at an Anglican service) and a fee is paid to the registrar there for the release of a schedule allowing a wedding to be conducted in the presence of an authorised person (AP) at Woodlands. The marriage must take place within 12 months of an issued schedule.

Also note, weddings are at the discretion of the Woodlands leadership and are not normally undertaken without marriage prep being offered and received.

Marriage Preparation
At Woodlands we see marriage prep as a key and valuable component to the wedding planning process – whether you marry here or somewhere else. It involves being partnered with a couple who'll be dedicated to walking you through not only how to get ready for your wedding but also how to prepare for a life-long marriage. This is coordinated by Julia Shrimpton and she will liaise with you to find a suitable couple.

Venue
Weddings are usually held in the Main Hall and Foyer. You are welcome to have drinks and light refreshments after your ceremony. Please note that you will need to find a separate venue for your reception. The building is open from 2 hours before the ceremony for setup and decorating and for 2 hours after the wedding to allow for refreshments and clear up. Please note, you will need to provide teams for set-up, decorating, refreshments, and clear up. A Woodlands steward will be onsite to assist.

Costs
Costs for a wedding at Woodlands range from £265 - £650 depending on requirements, further information is available on request.
