September 8th 2018 11am. Loser: Lose your faith (Hebrews 3:12-19, 6:4-6)

Losing your faith sadly happens to people. It is a major concern of the book of Hebrews. Losing faith can mean losing ‘dynamic’ faith and sinking into ‘religion’ and ‘dead works (instead of live works). It can mean backing away from identifying as a follower of Jesus for fear of persecution. It can mean de-constructing faith, or coming to question previous experiences or convictions. Loser: Lose your life - Dave Mitchell

September 1st 2019 7pm: Loser: Lose your life. (Luke 9:23-27. Philippians 3).

Sometimes we are accused of offering a ‘cheap’ gospel; God is so loving and so for us that to be a Christian is blessing all the way without cost. Jesus however combined the proclamation of good news with a stark call to follow the way of the cross (The Calvary Road). To follow Jesus is to embrace a life that may involve suffering and persecution. For those of us in the West it’s a challenge to listen to the persecuted Church. Would we be keen to identify as Christians if we had to face what they do? Why do they do it? Download Discussion notes
